The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in Alexandria, VA has awarded the Silver EXCEL Award designation to the Tulsa Area Human Resources Association, Chapter Number 0175 for its scope of work in 2011.
The EXCEL Award is the recognition component of the SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE). SHAPE measures include alignment with SHRM's overall objectives, strategic focus and initiatives as well as promoting the HR profession at the local level.

Citing the court decision obtained last Friday by the U.S. and South Carolina Chambers of Commerce in the District of South Carolina, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals has enjoined the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from implementing the notice posting rule (which would have required virtually every private employer in the country to post a notice regarding the rights of employees to organize and join a union) until the D.C. Circuit has fully considered the issue on appeal. At this point, employers are not required to post such notice on April 30, as previously scheduled.

NLRA posting notice requirement delayed until January 31, 2012
On October 5, the National Labor Relations Board extended the implementation deadline for its notice posting rule from November 14 to January 31, 2012.
As a result of this delay, nearly all private sector employers will now be required to post a notice that outlines employee rights under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) by January 31, 2012. Authorized posters can be downloaded here.
Please note that this announcement does not impact the current requirement that certain federal contractors must post NLRA employee rights in their workplaces. That requirement was established by President Obama's Executive Order signed on January 30, 2009.

OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE PASSES NEW DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING ACT
Since the original adoption of Oklahoma's Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing, OKLA. STAT. tit. 40, 551, et seq. ("Testing Act") in 1993, an employer's power to enforce a policy promoting an alcohol- and drug-free workplace has been significantly curtailed by administrative burdens and the threat of hefty sanctions on employers who violated the Testing Act.

The Oklahoma State Council for HR Management (OSCHRM) is proud to announce
that an HR professional and SHRM member from Oklahoma has been selected
to received a 2010 SHRM Foundation scholarship. Lisa Fleming, SPHR from Oklahoma City, OK will be receiving one of the 100 scholarship awarded in 2010.
The SHRM Foundation awards a total of 100 education and certification
scholarships to SHRM members each year. Twenty scholarships are awarded
as follows in each of the five domestic regions: 4 academic
scholarships of $2,000 each and 18 certification scholarships of $750
