Join other TAHRA members at this Learning Lab to learn how to streamline HR for strategic success.  Human Resources is so busy acting as a consultant for business units, it is easy to forego our own needs.  Gaining a meaningful seat at the table requires filtering through the administrative and procedural noise and looking at the business from a long-term, strategic standpoint.  In this session, Cheryl Pope will guide you in learning why HR should have a seat at the table, how to think about HR as an operational unit and what questions to ask when conducting a self assessment.  We will also be reviewing a case study about HR rightsizing.  
Cheryl Pope is the Director of HR Communications at Apex Global Partners, one of the nation’s fastest growing, full-service benefits, outsourcing, compensation and HR consulting firms.  Prior to joining Apex, she was the HR director for Maggiano’s restaurants, a division of Brinker International.  She also spent over fifteen years at American Airlines where she held a variety of HR jobs including Director Employee Relations and Director of Employee Communications.  While at AA, she was instrumental in helping the company successfully restructure outside of the bankruptcy process.  She holds a B.A. in Industrial Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned her M.B.A. at the University of Dallas.  She is a certified mediator and has her SPHR.
