Leading Change in Turbulent Times

Change is pervasive. Change is challenging. The level of change we are currently experiencing in the business environment is unprecedented. With the correct formula for leading and managing change, change can be exciting and profitable. This seminar introduces participants to the complexities and processes of change from the individual to the industry level. Change can come in the form of growth, restructuring, mergers, divestitures and reengineering. After attending this seminar participants will understand how change effects individuals, departments and companies. They will be given a set of tools for assessing change readiness, planning for change, implementing a change process, dealing with resistance to change and evaluating change initiatives.

  • Understand the various forms of change
  • Recognize the need for change
  • Create a change coalition and vision for change
  • Create urgency and motivate employees to want to change

Dr. Matt Bowler is the MBA Director in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. He serves as the Brenneman Professor of Management at OSU Tulsa. He earned his PhD in Management at the University of Kentucky, served on the faculty at The University of North Texas, and is an Associate Professor of Management. Dr. Bowler’s research interests include social networks, leadership, change, OCB and deviance. His research has been published in journals including Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management and Human Resource Management Review and featured in Harvard Business Review Online, LinkedIn Daily Rundown and on CBS This Morning. Dr. Bowler leads workshops on Leading Change, Building Social Networks, Managing to Leading as well as custom programs requested by companies and organizations. He lives in Jenks Oklahoma with his wife and their three children, is a local business owner and enjoys cycling running and other outdoor sports and activities.
