Financial Wellness - The Missing Employee Benefit

Categories: TAHRA Webinar Meeting
Presented by Mickey Butler, CLU, ChFC
This event has been changed to virtual only!

Join us at our January Learning lab for a lab on financial wellness. At this lab human resource professionals will become aware of the cost of financial stress to employees, the employer (especially HR), and will learn how education will reduce the stress and increase employee morale while earning 2 hours of HR certification credit.

At this lab you will learn:

  • What is financial stress and what does it cost employees and employers (especially HR Professionals)
  • Association Financial Educators – who are they?
  • How AFE provides financial wellness
  • Sample financial wellness course with continuing education credit

Mickey Butler has served her clients and her industry for decades. Within the financial services industry she led courses for the American College, the LUTCF designation, and provided Continuing Legal Education and Continuing Professional Education for attorneys and accountants. Mickey has offered several client facing seminars on Retirement Planning, Managing Student Debt and Special Needs Planning.

Education is important to her because her immigrant grandfather would ask her daily, “What did you learn today?”. Mickey earned her Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant designations early in her career. She is also a licensed Financial Advisor and provides financial plans for a fee.

She is in a position to share and her admission into the speaker’s bureau for the Association of Financial Educators provides the opportunity to do that. Her team recently offered a 13 course series at Central Tech campuses in Sapulpa and Drumright.

While Education and Leadership are important, the most fulfilling work is helping clients get answers to the questions they did not even know they had! During her decades in sales management she helped new representatives serve a wide variety of Individuals and Business Owners.  Each client experience taught her something new.

In 2020 her search for the ideal business model and planning tools inspired the formation of Retire by Design LLC. Her unique perspective on the functions and limitations of various systems along with her vision of a great client experience were foremost. She is proud to be one of the only female financial advisors in Oklahoma to provide financial plans that help clients Optimize Social Security Distribution, Minimize Income Taxation at withdrawal and Manage Medicare Premiums. Charging a fee for financial plans allows her to help select clients who want to de-couple their planning advice and product purchase.

When Mickey is not working she enjoys gardening and camping. She is a proud wife, mother, grandmother and foster mother.
