July Learning Lab

Strategies for Implementing the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act

Categories: TAHRA Learning Lab

Presented by Chris Vaught

At this lab, Chris Vaught will provide an overview to the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) and how it was enacted to fill in the gaps which existed between the Pregnancy Discrimination Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. From there, attendees will delve into a discussion of the regulations the EEOC created to implement the PWFA, including traps placed by the EEOC for the unwary. The learning lab will conclude with a discussion of strategies HR professionals can implement within their workspace to ensure their policies and practices are compliant with both the PWFA and the implementing regulations.

Attendees will leave with:

  • A step-by-step process for implementing the PWFA within your organization.
  • Practical examples to illustrate best practices.
  • An interactive process decision tree HR professionals can follow when evaluating accommodation requests.
