June Learning Lab

How to Create Your Veteran Ready Culture

Categories: TAHRA Learning Lab
Presented by Denise Reid

Veteran ready employers build cultures that welcome and integrate veterans and their family members into their organizations for long-term success. Understanding what it takes to create this type of environment doesn’t always come naturally. There are tools and resources to help build your culture for attracting, hiring, developing, and retaining veterans as part of your talent pipeline strategies. Join us for this TAHRA learning lab to explore SHRM’s Veterans at Work training and certification, the Oklahoma Veteran Alliance’s (OKVA) Veteran Employer Network, and the annual OKVA Veteran Employer Champion Survey recognition.

At this lab you will:

  • Gain a better understanding of the veteran talent pool and the business case for hiring them and their family members.
  • Receive an overview of SHRM Foundation’s Veteran Employment project and commitment and the Veterans at Work certification training available to anyone to learn about how to engage and hire veterans.
  • Learn strategies on how to create a more welcoming culture for veterans and their family members.
  • Get connected with local and national resources that support veterans and employers interested in employing veterans and their family members.
