Economic Development Specialist

Under general supervision, the Economic Development Specialist provides a high level of customer service to existing and future business. The Specialist supports the City’s economic development goals by supporting business retention and expansion efforts, assisting in the coordination and tracking of development-related inquiries, and fostering collaboration with internal departments and external partners. This position manages the flow of development cases from initial inquiry through pre-development coordination and serves as a consistent point of contact for the City’s business community. The Specialist provides regular updates to the Economic Development Director.

Qualifications/Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Economics, Business Administration, Urban Planning or related field supplemented by two years of experience in economic development, business services, municipal planning, or similar role.
  • Experience in case management, customer service, or project coordination in a public or private setting is preferred.
  • Requires possession or ability to obtain a valid Oklahoma Driver's License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Tasks involve the ability to exert minimal physical effort in sedentary work, typically involving some combination of balancing, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 10 pounds).
  • Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
  • Requires frequent travel to other worksites.
