Summary/Objectives
The Benefits and Compensation Specialist is responsible for the administration of Hogan’s benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401(k), and other similar plans. Additionally, this position will administer Hogan’s compensation programs, including payroll and reporting, salary surveys, incentive programs, merit plans, and other remuneration programs.

Detailed Description:

Essential Functions

  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes, and contribution amounts. Ensure compliance and reporting related to the 401(k) is complete and manage audits related to this benefit.
  • Responsible for the analysis, design, and administration of compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and other performance management remuneration.
  • Expand existing compensation programs by analyzing/conducting salary surveys, performing job analyses, market pricing, retention strategies, etc. to develop a structured pay grade program.
  • Assists in the setup and management of the benefit enrollment process, ensuring accuracy of data in the HRIS to provide vendors with precise eligibility information.
  • Audit and process all benefit-related vendor invoices for payment.
  • Administer COBRA ensuring timely distribution of documents and accurate payments are processed.
  • Ensure newly-hired employees are educated on available benefits and process for enrolling.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences, disabilities, and accommodations. Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests.
  • Support payroll administration, reporting, and general payroll responsibilities to ensure accurate processing and recording of bi-weekly and other program payrolls.
  • Responsible for keeping informed on applicable benefits and compensation legislative and regulatory developments, and work with Director HR to ensure changes to rules and regulations are restructured with HR systems, policies, Handbooks, and practices.
  • Maintains knowledge of economic conditions, labor market, and other factors related to ensuring Hogan provides competitive and reasonable compensation scales and structures.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on compliance issues related to benefits and compensation, including Hogans compliance with external regulations and filings.
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources with new and ongoing projects which aim to improve our policies, processes, and people experiences, as well as assisting with documentation, reporting, presentations, and overall training of our benefits and compensation programs.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in the application of benefits and compensation policies and procedures with extensive knowledge of employee benefits, compensation, payroll, and applicable laws.
  • Experience and knowledge of 401(k) programs and required compliance, reporting, and audits.
  • Proficient with HR information systems and reporting.
  • Proficient with MS Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and other applications necessary for analyzing data to support decision making, with special emphasis on using spreadsheets and/or data analysis tools.
  • Possess strong knowledge of leaves of absence regulations and ensure that appropriate leave of absence documentation is created, obtained, and maintained in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Prior HR Generalist experience preferred.
  • Must be able to discreetly handle sensitive employee information.
  • Ability to build rapport, establish relationships, influence, and partner with people across all levels of our company with ease.
